Happy New Year!
We all shouted “Happy New Year” in church, and before that, I had just completed a two-day retreat on December 30th and 31st.
In the excitement, I rushed to hug my mum and noticed so many messages on my phone.
I planned to reply once I got home. But when I checked later, I saw a message from someone I wasn’t expecting at all.
The part of my retreat where I learned about forgiveness suddenly became real, I had to apply it but I couldn’t bring myself to.
Honestly, I was confused.
I kept asking myself, First day of the year…..
what exactly does she want?
I had already planned all my messages for my friends, but I deleted them and just went to sleep.
This morning, I shared the experience with my parents, and they advised me to let go and pray for the person.
So, I saved the number and replied with a simple “Thank you.”
Fast forward to this evening, I saw the same person unexpectedly.
My first thought was,
What will you do now?
I acted like I didn’t notice,
but guess what? She called me and said she was sorry.
That moment taught me something powerful: I started this year learning forgiveness.
To all my friends who sent me New Year messages and didn’t get a reply, I’ll definitely respond soon.
My retreat helped, my parents helped, and most importantly, I had to forgive myself before forgiving anyone else.
Here’s to a year of growth, grace, and forgiveness.
Happy New Year to you all.
I love you all!
Thank you so much for this Inioluwa. ❤️
